Hi, just wondered... does anyone know if Residential MBS is the UK is guarenteed in the same/similar way as US Mortgages are?Thanks very much

If you mean in the same way Freddie Mac guarantees mortgages, the answer is no.

Thanks a lot... Yes thats what I ment.... do you know if anyone insures them? i.e. a 3rd party insurance company maybe?

There is no 3rd party insurance for the UK RMBS now (there may be some exceptions though, not 100% sure). I've heard that at the inception of the market there used to be such insurances. BTW Aussie RMBS have insurance.Please let me know if you find any exception for UK.
