Hi all,A friend of mine recently gets an offer from GS as a Strategist in Prime Brokerage. He told me that there is nothing called quant in GS. They only have a similar something called Strategist whose job nature is a bit more than a quant. Is it true? If yes, what is the difference between a Strategist and a quant in other ibanks? Also, what types of quant work are in Prime Brokerage? I rarely hear quant in Prime Brokerage!quant123

i'm not sure about prime brokerage, but within FICC (at GS) all the quants are called strategists and assigned to a specific business area e.g. Credit Derivatives Strategist, Emerging Market Strategist etc. and will usually sit of the trading desk.however, the role of "strategist" is pretty wide, some may be pure quant modelling roles whilst others are more client facing almost salesman-like.
