Does anyone know how difficult it is for a UK firm to hire an intern for 3 months from a US university? I suppose a regurlar work permit is a better option than the HSMP if they are willing to sponsor it (I do qualify for the HSMP with 105 points)? Would there be any obstables for the firm to get a work permit? Thanks.

It's not very hard, but some firms won't even do the most minimal effort. There's no way of predicting this except if you know the firm.Personally, I'd go for the HSMP. It means there are zero hassles for the bank, and it's pretty much a qualification in it's own right.105 points ?That's pretty high.

I know it has probably been asked many times on this forum but I can't find it. How long does it usually take to get a UK visa through HSMP? I have a little over a year until I reach 6 years on an H1B. I am applying for a green card but want to explore alternatives in case my application is unsuccessful. Thanks for your replies.

Actually many of my friends got their application approved within 2 weeks time. =========================================
http://www.workingintheuk.gov.uk/workin ... faq.html13. What are your processing times? Our service standard is that 50% of new applications should be decided within 5 weeks of receipt at our payment handling service and 90% within 14 weeks.Your decision may be delayed if we need to make further checks or seek additional information. This action may result in your application taking longer to decide.=========================================After you've got your HSMP, you can apply for a UK visa in your local UK embassy. You can find the processing time on the website.
