Thanks for the recommendation VeeruthakurMathew - I do focus on HK / Sg only, however I only work on experienced hires, mainly in fixed income product areas. Do feel free to contact me as I might be able to help either in terms of intros or info.

Can give any suggestions like how I could get summer interns in Singapore? Besides submitting online applications, nothing else I could do, and I know online application never gets enough attention. Do u have any ways to approach Singapore small companies which will also possibly recruit interns? Thanks

You might see more joy with this than online applications, but I don't know for sure.

NShah: Equity is doing quite okay in Asia (or EM in general). But on the other hand, a lot of us are working in fixed income. How's hiring activity like for this side of the market? In general, what are they looking for in terms of experience and working area (e.g. bank vs hedge fund, quant dev vs quant vs risk people, fresh grad vs junior vs many years of experience)....

Hi Nshah:Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it. Anyway, i will try my best. Heard Citi Singapore FICC has freezed now. Market is ugly. One more question, If I go to Singapore to work, am I going to enjoy Global pay? I am doing master in U of Michigan now. I am thinking how fast I could earn back my tuition fee. My friend graduated from Singapore, and worked in Deutsche Bank now, only earning 4000k Singapore Dollars per month. That is not acceptable.ThanksQuoteOriginally posted by: NShahQuoteOriginally posted by: DeadPanQuoteOriginally posted by: NShahThanks for the recommendation VeeruthakurMathew - I do focus on HK / Sg only, however I only work on experienced hires, mainly in fixed income product areas. Again in general terms there is less appetite for fresh grads (excluding the usual grad programmes) and less experienced people - 2008 will be tougher than 2007 and there is much more demand for experienced people who can deliver straight away. I can't make a comparison for quant vs quant dev vs risk because out of these areas I only see what is happening in the market for f/o quants.

As I understand it entry level salaries in Sg are low - it's probably unrealistic to expect what you might have got in the US pre-credit crunch. For f/o positions both base and total comp will see some rapid acceleration in the first 2-3 yrs for those working in global banks (less so in local banks). In real terms (after tax) you can expect to be on 'global pay' somewhere around the 2-3 yr mark - of course depending on your own performance!
