Hi, all. I am currently studying in a university in Australia and doing the actuarial studies. One month later I am coming to year three. I am considering about applying for Phd after finishing the actuarial studies honor year. As I know, qunat analysis and financial math are two pretty good majors. But I am not sure which one suit my major better or just finance Phd?Is there anyone who can give me some suggestion? lots of thanks

what is the difference between "quant analysis and financial math"? post a syllabus. these are just buzz words. if you want to do quant finance, i would stay away from (most) finance phd's.just my two pence.

Quantitative Analysis can mean studying anything that is quantitative...but in these forums it usually refers to the type of position in finance that involves working with financial engineering, statistics, financial mathematics, or any other quantitative methods applied to finance. My opinion: Im not sure if I have ever heard of a Quantitative Analysis PhD, only of a Quantitative Finance PhD...better double check what that is. I would stick with applied math, computational math, or financial math. Keep in mind that financial math requires more math than actuarial studies.

thanks for correcting my mistake..... but yea, it's true, financial math requires more math than actuarial. That's why I feel a bit bothered. I will finish actuarial honor in two years. So what course else suit me better?thanks
