I suppose London has a large banking/finance workforce. However I don't find many MFE programs in UK when compared with US.The one's I know are Oxford MSCF , LSE Finance and Economics.Am I missing anything ?From where do London banks are hiring quantitative analysts? Are they hiring from France, rest of Europe and US.

prasenjit0211, the reason for there being so many finance programs in the US is the money they can get for them. This can lead to problematic courses like the one at Fordham. As Abhij says, Cambridge Part III isn't a financial masters, but probably has a better placement record of any MFE program in the UK or Europe. But I don't know for sure...No one does. The stats are known to be so bogus that if any newbie talked to me as if he believed them he'd be in trouble demonstrating that he had any commercial sense at all. From where do London banks are hiring quantitative analysts? Are they hiring from France, rest of Europe and US.The reason London is the world's top financial centre is that it hire from everywhere including places that aren't even recognised as countries.

There is no special treatment for US citizens in the British system. However, the British system is wholly different for skilled workers, and is not race based like the European systems. Germany in particular is pissed at the way Britain lets in smart coloured people in such numbers. Belgium used to be pissed at it, but then realised that few if any were likely to go there. They are even allowed to get British passports, something that causes Franco-German politicians of all parties to literally change their face colour. There are several paths, one is an internal transfer, but also you can apply based upon your utility to the British economy, through the points based systemYou gets points for BS, MS and PhD, etc, and the more money you've earned in your career the more points you get.If you have a "top 50 MBA" you get in directly because it is known that Britain has an abject lack of competent management. The French are less than impressed by the way that you get points for speaking English, which of course benefits Americans, and I suppose it also helps USanians that having money in the bank helps as well.Actually being Britain it can be "money under their control held in a regulated financial institution and disposable in the United Kingdom amounting to no less than £1 million, which may include money loaned to them provided that it was loaned by a financial institution regulated by the Financial Services Authority."I'd point out that this point that if you get a UK passport you can work anywhere in the EU, even if you're not white, so you can see why their politicians go ape, but can't actually say out loud what the problem is, which just makes them more unhappy. You also can apply to live in Scotland since too few Scots want to live there so there is a shortage of people, and a worse shortage of jobs, money or hope.Their politicians are found to talk of an "arc of prosperity" which includes Iceland, so you can see why Scotland is pretty much the easiest place in Europe to get permission to work.
