Hi All,I feel confused of my current situation. I want to be a quant but now I am not. I am working in the Market Risk Department in a small bank. Sometimes I will price structure product but not much. I got a MSc in Financial Maths, CFA and FRM and know flat C++ (I may learn OOP by myself in the future). I want to change into a quant job or a market risk role with greater exposure. But I feel it is difficult for me to acheive. What can I do now?

What can I do now?Go to the Church and pray everyday and fast for 8 Sundays (no food, no wine, no hanky panky and no partying). On the Monday following the 8th (and the last) Sunday of fasting, thou shalt have a job that thou deem fit.Amen.

Praying it's not neccesary...Maybe it is easier than you thinkwhere are you based?...I'm sure there are offers in other cities, or, countries...or maybe you are just focusing on big brand names

Accentuate your skills, go back to school if necessary, stay abreast for opportunities, take chances, code better, take on projects that challenge you even if they are self interest, etc ... The list goes on and there are plenty of people asking questions like these from positions alot worse than yours. Keep your head up, there is no magical solution so don't expect one.

I understand it is not easy, so I want to get some opinion what kind of skills I should accentuate and should I keep finding jobs in recent period.I am based in Hong Kong. I don't mind working overseas and actually want to widen my horizon. Maybe Singapore is one of the good choices. I only use efinancial career website to search overseas jobs. And there is not many job hunters contacting me after financial tsunami. It's quit difficult to find a job overseas.I passed CFA and FRM and has a MSc in Financal Maths in a HK University. I don't sure what skills I should accentuate now. Thanks you guys give me crucial opinions.
