Hi all,I will do my summer internship at MS, and would like to ask for advices about the desks I should go to, in order to maximize my chances to get a full time. I heard about FX and IR which could be the best choices. Please give me your POV.Thanks

OK - I'll stick my neck out. What would you like to do? Where do you think you have comparative advantages? Do you even have a choice of which area(s) to work in?

Yes I have to choose between equities, commodities, FX, IR and Credit... It's a rotational programme, and I can choose at the most 3 desks. Which one would you advice me to choose ?

You have to research that and make your own decision. Commodities is hot right now but will it be by the time your are full time? What is MS known for? What desks are their strengths? What desks are not their strengths but they would like to become better at? Research these and other questions then make up your own mind.

Thanks. But do you think that because a desk is a strength of a bank means that they hire a lot ? For example, their great weakness is Credit, but does this mean that they do not hire ? Basically no interns applied in Credit, but this means that there is no competition ...What do you think ?

Where do you think you will learn more 1) at a desk which is one of the company's strengths or 2) at a desk where the company is weak? Which would look better on your CV if MS doesn't hire you full time? Suppose you do go into Credit and get hired full time. Unless the department gets turned around and is no longer weak, how will your CV look then? Just a few things to consider.
