Not really as this is an entry level job. However, you should look at what the longer term bonus potential in this role. At that stage of the career, what you learn and who you get to know is more important than a couple of extra k in year 1.

Why bother asking, obviously the low end is really low. Is it still low when compared to other industries? Maybe not so they might be able to fish up a talented person to work for a year before they realize what they can make elsewhere.

Not for one asking for a Phd, maybe as an annualized salary for an internship?

(i) Possibly this is not in London(ii) Banks usually pay more(iii) C'mon 20k must be a typo
