Does anybody know how the bring historical time series indices data from Bloomberg DataLicense for the range of dates and range of indices.

Bloomberg DataLicense is FTP based ( only ).Just a text query to get the history of the index ( like for excample factor history that is available )

They also offer web service API and GUI for DataLicense subs that spits out csv or xml files but nevermind. Just press <HELP> twice and they'll give you the text query needed.

If you try downloading a lot of data via Excel you are reaching a limit that is calculated on a daily and monthly base. The Bloomberg DataLicense do not have that limit, but is still priced on a security base. When getting historical data for a universe of 5000 companies you get an invoice of more than 10.000 USD/month. So the DataLicense may not be a solution.Are there any other data providers than FactSet, Thomson MarketQA, Bloomberg providing financial statements and other data you need for backtesting?
