Changing jobs too much?

One of my friends is a quant developer. He changes jobs every year (almost). Of course, he always has a nice salary bump and gained more responsibility on the way. All his jobs are with brand name firms on top of that. Will he be rejected by the job market eventually? Or if it is a really good job opportunity, the hiring manager won't care? Some argues he is a better candidate than the unemployed.
