Job hunting advice needed

July 11th, 2011, 5:24 pm

Hi,Here is the situation. I have been doing independent consulting for a while; it has been ok. My big contracts are coming to an end, and fortunately, there has been some activity on the job market. There are two jobs worth noting. One is a good job with a good company in a good location. The other is a great job with a great company in a great location. The issue is that the good job is going to make up its mind before the great job does. I probably need to take the good job if offered because I can't give it up for a chance at the other job, but hate to give up on a great job opportunity. I know that the employer-employee bond is not what it used to be, but taking a job for a month may be outside the bounds of current employer-employee protocol, so maybe I need to be satisfied with the good job?Any comments? advice?

Wait for the great job. If it doesnt work out there will be another "good" one behind it. Hiring has picked up a lot in your sector and there will be a lot of good opportunities this year and next.

Well Mr confused you need to grab whatever comes first. Accept the job offer which you get first and don't wait for that 'great' job offer . I know if after accepting the good job getting a call from the great job would give you a couple of good-great regretful days but remind yourself that you did what was safe for you. Play safe. Better to regret over not having the great job than having to regret for not having any job at all! Here's a career test link you may like - http://www.3smartcubes.com/pages/tests/ ... ctions.asp
