want to learn more about model validation

So at this point I've pretty much mined out this forum for information on model validation. My summary is that MV has decent W/L balance, is often for math/physics PhDs, and for some reason (prolly cuz no one pays them no mind) gets dumped on pretty frequently by those in other areas, and apparently also has the worst happiness quotient compared to other types of quants. But I'd like to learn more, are there any good blogs by MV quants on the web? or other places to get more info about the day to day. I'm a math grad student btw.ThinkDifferent, you're a defender of the perks of MV life, care to share more about your day to day?

I'll give you another statistics to consider; at all places I worked at, at lest 50% of FO quants don't have families. The same number for MV is much lower. In the MV team I currently work in, one guy is single....and he is about to leave

Honestly it seems like a pretty sweet gig for a quant interested in an upper-middle class lifestyle but who doesn't need obscene amounts of money. However things always look different from the outside, that's why I felt the more information I could gather about the job, the better.

It can be a decent place to start because one gets to see a lot of different stuff, and a good place to retire as a quant because of the reasonable working hours and the more relaxed work environment. I honestly don't believe people in MV are the least happy in the quant business: it's just that they are in the uncomfortable position of the middleman between FO and actual risk management who quite often just don't care what they say, which I understand can be a bit frustrating. Or maybe MV are just whining little b1tches!?

Is that they don't have time or they are just unwilling to share their wealth?
