Just being honest here, most people in the top MFE program with IT background make about that much before they join. Usually they feel there is higher upside in finance than IT.

You can talk to the haas mfe directors, I am sure they will let u know the pro and con. This year, there are 6 Phds out of class 60, 3 Physics, 1 Econ, 1 CS, 1 Chem E. They all place really well, and get contacted by Top I Bank before anyone else. -float
