XLW memory leak

I wish I could tell you I will definitely test it, but unfortunately I might not get to it for a while. I will most likely try it though if the problem happens again. Thanks.

XLW memory leak

Nope, nothing multi-threaded in my code. It's really strange because this problem only manifests itself very rarely, I think it's only happened twice in the past 2 years.

XLW memory leak

<t>I know a lot of the people who maintain XLW are frequent contributors here, so I am hoping this is the best place to ask this question.I've been using XLW for a long time and it works beautifully (version 3.0.0f). However, I encountered a memory-leak problem, which only shows up intermittently. T...

<t>Hi Mark. Here's a more esoteric question, maybe you or someone else can answer it.Since I work in a unix-based place, they are big on make files here. I managed to create a make file for the excel add-in I am working on (after much cursing and looking at half-assed how-to examples on MSDN). The ma...

<t>I'm actually using it for a project at work. It's very convenient.Just a few comments: the interface generator craps out on functions that take no arguments. It's a pretty easy fix. I also thought there's no reason for CellValue not to have an int constructor. Also, the projects have a bit of a f...

any good books on Futures trading??

Aaron Brown recommends the book by Fink and Feduniak. It's out of print though, so you'll have to find a used copy. Forget the name of it.

Opening Interactive Brokers account

Farmer,I was wondering whether you'd be willing to answer a few questions I have regarding purely pragmatic stuff. If you could PM me here or email me at hazerider2@yahoo.com, I would really appreciate.Thanks,Marc.

Opening Interactive Brokers account

<t>Thanks for the input.A quick question: what do you mean by the one market? I understand that due to daily mark-to-market I would need a more significant amount of cash in order to trade futures, but I don't really have a choice as commodities and options thereon are the only instruments I can tra...

Opening Interactive Brokers account

<t>Since quite a few people here seem to have experience with Interactive Brokers, I was wondering if I could get some advice/info.First of all, they have a requirement to have prior trading experience. It seems to me to be more of a case of CYA, since I just said I had the experience (which I do no...

IT infrastructure on the cheap for a small market player

QuoteOne thing that should pleasantly surprise you is the amount of computing power that you have available from a home machine.Which is why I got a dual processor, 2 gig machine at home :-)

IT infrastructure on the cheap for a small market player

<t>Thanks for the input, it is instructive. However, what you are describing is a small hedge fund. My idea was more along the lines of working from home, at first in my spare time, to establish the viability of certain strategies I have about trading. I realize it would make more sense to join a tr...

IT infrastructure on the cheap for a small market player

<t>Let's say someone wanted to start a trading operation, but obviously has limited funds so they would need to save wherever they can. One place to save is on the IT infrastructure, where in general free tools are available. I would like to hear opinions and recommendation for alternatives, and exp...

Reconciling Trades Through A Network (VBA)

<t>Maybe there's something basic I am missing, but it seems to me there is a much simpler solution. Why not set up an ODBC data source for the database which contains the actual trades, and access it in Excel using sql.request. Having queries in a spreadsheet isn't the best-looking thing, but what i...

Best of Breed methodology

<t>I'd like to have the opinion of more experienced members of the forum. While I am aware I have a very strong tendency to reinvent the wheel, I find it hard to believe that there are so many projects that require such huge headcounts. It seems to me that a team of say 3 good programmers can produce...
