Junior trader with no experience at all (fresh out of uni) means 1st year analyst, so 35 to 45kjunior trader with some other experience in banking means 1st year associate, 50 to 70k.phd grads somewhere inbetween

can you elaborate on the copula mathod?i dont think a gaussian copula would work very well, as it would probably underestimate the butterlfy and misprice the skew? or maybe not?is there any article on that? can anybody provide references?

suppose you can observe the ATM vol in the market you can then compute the implied correlationis there any way from there, and from the smiles of the 2 major ccypairs, to imply the vol smile of the cross ccy?anybody has worked on that?

What does it take to become a quant/trader?

Yes you need to be very very good at maths in undergrad to become a quant.There's no way you're gonna pick up things on the job.This is true for quant, not for trading.A masters in finance is certainly not necessary to become a quant or a trader.

MFEs help in that they guarantee you a quant job. From there, you might move on to trader.The main other way to trading is through the grad schemes straight after undergrad.
