Query about Georgia Tech University

<t>Hey,I have home units in ISyE. Let me tell you this much. It does not matter at all once you are in. Core curriculum is the same, and electives that you can chose, well, anyone from any department can chose almost anything he/she desires. So don't even worry about that question. Chosing a home un...

Anyone got a call from Gatech QCF program

<t>Hey guys,I'm in the program right now...I got my offer last year through the mail (is this what is mean by snail mail (it makes sense)?), not e-mail. Even if you are not offered financial aid, I advise you, if you have decided to go to GT, to visit the campus and try talking to several department...

GATECH Ms in QCF

<t>Hey there,I hope I didn't come out sounding too much like an asshole. Anyways, have you taken the financial econometrics course yet? I was looking at cross-registering and taking that in the fall. Could you PM me with class-specific links that give course contents, etc...I was thinking of perhaps...

GATECH Ms in QCF

<t>Ummm, I still don't think you know what you are talking about...I took the class.......we talked about the binomial model for a bit more than 1 class lecture. Other than that, we covered many other topics (we used Ross's "Probability Models" and Neftci's "An Introduction to the Mathematics of Fin...

GATECH Ms in QCF

<t>QuoteOriginally posted by: kuirulHi, I personally know the curruculum very well. I don't know the placement. The currulum is like a cocktail. They are not mathematially oriented. Should I quit my Ph.D?

<t>Where are you right now in your Ph.D. track? Depending on where you stand, you could perhaps quit the Ph.D., get the MFE degree from Columbia, and then apply to another Ph.D. program that will take most of your credits, so that way, you'll not lose much of what you've accomplished. It may not end...

Help, suggestions urgently needed!

Thanks for the book suggestion. It's a relatively inexpensive book, so I will give it a try! Any more specific ideas anyone might have?

Should I quit my Ph.D?

<t>QuoteOriginally posted by: madmaxAnother way, cannot you take one year off your PhD and go back to it after the MSc ?This sounds like a very good idea! Taking a year off and completing the MFE degree will let you sorta kill two birds with one stone. Assume this to be a round stone, and letting th...

anyone heard from columbia MSFE yet?

<t>Maybe it's just that I am a slower learner, but clear me up on this...There is so much to learn in Financial Math, that it seems to be rushing too much to complete a program such as this in a year or less. Unless one holds another M.S. degree, and has a lot of previous knowledge of the stochastic...
