I cannot answer the simplest question asked in the phone interview

I agree with nortune2, a similar question appears in crack's book. Charge $1.33333333.Use $1.3333333 to buy 1/45 of a share of the stock. If EVER the stock rises to $150, sell that 1/45 of a stock. You will then make a profit of $2, which you use to pay the person who made the bet.

Blackrock Portfolio Analytics

<t>didn't interview with their portfolio analytics group, but interviewed with their financial modeling group. Blackrock seems like a nice enough place. during the interview, i was asked programming questions by every single person (minus one). and i hardly put any programming experience on my resum...

Straddle vs. Delta hedged call

Graduate in Computer Science from Upenn:Suggestions needed

<t>Sounds like you might have the requisite skills, but lack an "in" into the industry. My advice, short of doing a MFE (since I assume that you don't really feel like paying for another masters), is:1) Do lots of self study. The usual books that you hear people mention on this forum, Hull, Rennie B...

Advice needed - FX exotics

Thanks a lot for the advice. Are there books/articles you would recommend me to read? Or whether there are things I can do now to familiarize myself more with the FX market?Thank you in advance.

Basic Sallary - NYU graduated

<t>First of all, I agree with hotone and Gamanti. I definitely agree that one shouldn't be overly concerned by first year comp and instead focus on the bigger picture, i.e. career prospectives, interest in the job etc. Just to answer (one of) achow's question. Only one of the french students is hire...

Basic Sallary - NYU graduated

<t>Could it be possible that I sense some animosity against the French students...? In any case, I believe that the whole discussion was prompted by the question "Basic salary - NYU graduated." Which is why the French students in the program were raised as examples. My summary of the discussion so f...

Basic Sallary - NYU graduated

<t>I say "6 out of 9 French" because that was what was being discussed in the earlier postings, not because I want to single them out. And I'm not saying that there is any "ratio" here, i.e I am not saying that out of 100 french people who attend NYU's program, 67 will be hired as associates. That i...

Advice needed - FX exotics

<t>Hi, I need some advice from you battle-hardened pros out there. I will be soon join a FX desk doing exotics (as a quant). FX is one of the most liquid and biggest out there. So naturally I am very excited. At the same time, I have some queries:1) What are the issues that exotic FX traders have to...

Basic Sallary - NYU graduated

<t>The number of replies to this thread has really grown, given that when I posted last night, I was like the 9th person who posted...Anyways, just to clarify some of the points made:1) The 6 out of 9 french students who were hired as summer associates etc etc are all fresh out from school. None of ...

Basic Sallary - NYU graduated

<t>I must totally agree with Macfly. Everything he said so far is true. I honestly think that our program is better than Columbia's. People that I know at Columbia definitely did not get jobs that were as good as those my classmates at NYU got (even though we are looking for internships). If you kno...
