Shouldn't a proud Stanford graduate like yourself have better things to do other than littering in a public forum with 1000 posts?BTW, Berkeley MFE professors are from UC B-schools. They also teach PhDs and in many cas...

What does a salesman really do?

<t>not necessarily. banks have limited risk appetite. Let's say the bank is 100% sure interest rates will go lower, it still cannot take, say, over $5m in DV01. But it would be good to pitch the idea to clients and get some bid/offer spreads.Good salespeople are very important. They bring in client ...

Associate Programmes

I am an M.S. with no trading experience and I got an associate trading position. It can be done. You just need to be good and survive 20 interviews.

Quant - Programming = Trader ?

<t>Actually, in many cases they don't care about the "best solution". Just whatever it takes to make money or generate sales. Everything is revenue driven. My impression is that most groups at GS have no interest in researchers, unless they can somehow help generating revenue.GS doesn't use C++. It ...

In many cases, you only become aware of problems/improvements etc when you actually write the code.At Goldman Sachs, most "quants" are also "programmers". Basically everyone in b...
