What kind of job?

<t>I'm half way through MSc FE, already hold BSc, MSc Mathematics. I'm not sure I want to go the PhD, then quant route any more, as this will take another 4 or 5 years which seems a long time plus I'm not sure I fancy a hardcore maths quant role. I've only just started with C++ but if I focus on tha...

Research on integration

Thanks for both replies. cheers for the text and journal links! I'll take a look. I didn't think there would be much direct application to finance really. how come you know about the subject of asymptotic integral approximation? did you do a phd related to this area?

Research on integration

<t>So there's alot of research concerning numerical methods for approximations using computers etc. But what about research based on analytical methods? Derivative pricing comes down primarily to evaluating integrals and obviously other branches of science would be grateful for advancements in this ...

Quant maybe needs some direction

<t>I notice most posts on here relate to the hardcore quants 'rocket scientists' - but what if one wants to do more of the programming side? (i.e. quant developer related roles). My background is MSc Maths, MSc FE (nearly finished) but now i dont want to be stuck doing maths for my life and I'm enjo...

How to increase chances of securing quant role after study?

<t>Thankyou (most) for the contructive comments, especially NShah and twofish. These "filters" you mention in reference to institutions, can you expand? Do you mean: Oxbridge, Imperial, Warwick, King's, LSE? Have I missed any out? Also, any idea what the chances of PhD funding are depending on the in...
