I am sorry to bring you bad news, I have been in the similar situation myself last year. Basically HR is right, there is no way to get you the visa. Try to get a position in London or in Asia.

I would suggest to focus on learning FE. You can spent 5 minutes a day at the front page of wsj. com More than that is not necessary for interviews.
