Re: Evil, Mad and/or Stupid

A couple of days ago, I talked to a Belarusian taxi driver who escaped to Pierogi Country (me in Polish-Ukrainian, he in Belarusian - flawless communication! :-D). His brother spent 3 years in prison for one Telegram post criticizing Belarusian involvement in the war in Ukraine. I guess you can be non-PC if you’re in the right place (including time as the fourth spatial dimension) and have enough f u money (vide Musk, Rowling).

I like the comparison to the French Revolution! I believe such transitions are often paradigm shifts driven by scientific or technological progress. The Enlightenment and early ideas of evolutionary theory (e.g., Lamarck and Darwin the grandpa) contested the divine right of royals, arguing that all people evolved naturally and no class was biologically superior. Now, the digital revolution (especially social media) has democratized access to information - its use and misuse alike, enabled individuals to voice opinions, dictate norms and standards. Rights and privileges that once belonged to country leaders and institutions now belong to individuals.

I herald that the development of AI will take this further. And I’m not talking about Copilot or ChatGPT that practically everyone uses to work more easily and quickly. Thanks to AI agents, I’ve started doing things I never thought I’d be able to do in my life because of a lack of specific education, experience, or time! Now, everyone can become almost anything they want - all you need is a bit of brains, imagination, and creativity, especially with inspiring people around!

It was over two Centuries ago, this time the former contesters are being contested. That revolution is over, you have antother one. And in this one you are a king's guard.

Re-volution literally means counter-revolution: a return to ye good olde days without corruption of the present, which is how the word was understood by the English in their re-volution, only the French changed its meaning. In fact, ye good olde days will never return, all change is revolutionary. Entropy, man.

From Middle English re-, from Old French re-, from Latin re-, red- (“back; anew; again; against”)

In this particular case they do. Read "Oliver Cromwell's Letters and Speeches" edited by Thomas Carlyle in order to understand his meaning of the word 'revolution.'

Don’t be such a nice computer! Under social, cultural and historical influences, words sometimes become metaphors, and metaphors become metaphors - or words...
Hannah Arendt “On Revolution” writes precisely about the etymological evolution of the word, if I remember rightly. There’s a book by some famous historian (I used them to fall asleep fast) who compares Glorious Revolution with Frenchies, predating Gamal in his observation. Sorry!

Conjugate the subjunctive pluperfect of revolvere.
Write it up 500 times..

I didn't know Cromwell could write. I thought land grabbing and burning towns and villages was his fetish.

What about Muff, County Donegal.
The playright Brian Friel lived there.

They have a diving club, so they do.
