UN Universal Declaration of Human RightsYou may wish to bounce around the biographies -- particularly Jacques Maritain as well as the sections on Natural Law and Natural Rights.

Hamilton, I seem to have missed where you described your donation to your local foodbank. The UN site has some excellent descriptions of Natural Law, Logical Positivism, John Rawls ethical systemand Jacques Maritain. Nowhere did any of the 1948 drafters of the UDHR advocate a Euclidean ethicalsystem.

Obviously human rights are going to need to get trampled when you are fighting a war, but it's a slippery slope. See post(s) on Isosceles vs Equilateral human rights at the Archimedes section of the UN Declaration of Human Rights [1948] website listed below[or above depending upon your browser]. Unfortunately, the 1948 drafters were silent on the inalienable right to create alien geometric ethical systems, but I'm certain that everyone applauds the worthy effort being expended above [or below...]
