HiI was wondering if anyone has any experiences with Orgtel they would be willing to share. I am looking for a quant/ structuring role & thinking of sending CVs to selected agencies/ HHs. Any advice appreciated.

i guess like any recruiters they are quite limited in what CV they will send through - but they do place successfully to the city so are worth sendig your cv to of course.

From an interview I had with one of their clients, they did not even bother to return feedback. Now theycalled again for another position. See what happens there. They are not brilliant but not harm done to send them your CV

Thanks Guys. Have heard similar stories like Gerasimos' post - ie no feedback. But I desperately need a new job and desperately need interviews. Am sending my CV.

I also signed up with Orgtel and my agent (Adam Walker) treated me quite well compared to some of the other agencies. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for quant jobs. Although he didn't get me the job I'm currently working at, in terms of feedback, returning phone calls/emails and conacting me quite regularly...it was better than most.

I won't comment on Orgtel but one thing I would say is that it can be harmful to send CVs to several agencies. You need to be sure that the people who have your CV do not just forward it to potential recruiters without telling you (note that I'm not suggesting or implying that Orgtel do this). The problem is that if a potential recruiter obtains your cv from multiple sources a lot of them will disregard you immediately. The reason being:1. It makes you look unprofessional.2. There would be a potential dispute or disagreement on who (i.e. which agency) should receive the finders commission.I guess the moral is to be sure you trust the agency and your contact within the agency to tell you when they send out your cv.

I personally do not disregard a CV for such reasons:1) everyone knows some recruiters sometimes send CVs without notifying the candidate; why would I blame the candidate for that? All I care about is whether he is good for the job or not.2) this has happened a few times, and there is no dispute: if I have already received the CV from someone else, I just tell the recruiter immediately.

I think who you meet at Orgtel is very important. When I was looking for jobs, I talked to two people and, with one of them, I felt like talking to a stone wall, while the other was much more forthcoming in providing feedbacks/advices and listening to "what I am looking for".

Maybe it is just me/my CV -- but all calls/mails/CVs sent to Orgtel have always gone without any acknowledgement/answer. There are a couple of other agencies who have at least had the courtesy to come back to me and say that I was not suitable.

You're right in the general case. Two people at the same firm will vary wildly, and since there is not a formal process at most HH's you will see in this forum raduically different opinions fo the same person. They do what they feel is optimal as they go along. The "never rang me back" complaint we see so often is just poor process. If I were running a mid to large scale firm there would be a person who basically did nothing else other than deliver feedback, and keep in touch.

I had a bad experience at Orgtel too - they sent me at the wrong time- not a good start and had very limited knowledge of the products.I found a job through an experienced headhunter in the end.
