Where's Waldo?

January 7th, 2019, 11:37 pm

Back in the day, there was a game book where you had to find the character 'Waldo' in a rather complicated drawing. This is a similar puzzle.

Here is a picture of Shanghai.
You can zoom in to almost unbelievable detail (don't worry, the link loads quickly, although the full image is 195 Gigapixels).
So, I zoomed in and found this, let's call him Waldo.

Can you find him?

That would be very easy, because I see cats everywhere :-)
BTW, it's funny that there are so many pairs of identical people (after merging the multiple photos they must have taken).

Yes, I noticed some dups, too.  OK, find this -- it must be down there somewhere (picture from elsewhere):

Um ... Never mind the hinky graphics, who says the centers of the circles the arcs are from are at the corners of the quadrilateral?

A couple of decades ago (give or take) we had a visit scheduled by Valdo Durrleman, who was doing some interesting volatility modeling. When he was late, the inevitable question was: Vere is Valdo?
