Does the EU have Borderline Personality Disorder?

March 25th, 2021, 4:39 pm

(Ignore the gag in the subject. This is a semi-serious question!)
  • Chronic fear of abandonment
  • Difficulty maintaining relationships
  • Sudden outbursts of anger
  • Blaming everyone
  • Dissociation
  • Self-destructive behaviour
Many, many signs. The only counter is that the EU does have a strong self image.

It was a quote from Johnathan Swift along the lines of Matthew 7:5.

Rather multiple personality disorder.
It's called being a European ;-) I had tried to practice it since the age of 15. Didn't work, so I'm coming back to my roots.

BTW, my father has a theory that the diverse European identity protects the continent against wars (to certain degree, as we know) - there's no single city / capital that has to be conquered.

This problem has been resolved years ago.

The Irish love Europe, ever since they converted them to Christianity. And the Spanish Armada and Napoleon..

My late next-door neighbour at the time Liam wrote and sang this. Good trick.

The invincible Spanish Armada is a myth is a myth told to children in English schools. The Armada crew was poorly equipped and untrained. David defeated a paper Goliath, but I guess the story was to strengthen Elisabeth's political position.

Interesting story, I discover from Wikipedia. They could have captured the Isle of Wight apparently. But they had their orders from a faceless bureaucrat. (Cuanto más cambia, más es lo mismo!) And then we could have done swapsies with Gibraltar. As it is, we get to keep the really old people and the really old people with monkeys.

It's all about the seas: Graf Spee, Bismarck, Jutland, Suez '57 etc.etc.Cod war, battleship in Carlingford Lough etc.
The 24-volume work by John Buchan is a good key.

Pity the Spanish didn't have John Barry as Commodore.

I'm not so sure. Have a look at this. Absent makes the heart grow fonder.

Nice NZ cabbage plants. Reminds me of Castletown.
