New name for the forum

March 12th, 2025, 8:27 am

For a long time this forum has had nothing to do with derivatives and for some time now less and less with Paul Wilmott. What should its new name be to avoid confusion?

How about The Caviar Illuminati or The Golden Bubble Society?

Or..... we could attempt to talk shop a bit more. I'm always looking to learn, I bend Cuch's ear enough :)

Here is a quote, to provide some context:

“It is a way now, approximately, of being at home. The forum has become one of the most consistent places of her life, like a familiar cafe that exists somewhere outside geography and beyond time zones.
There are perhaps twenty regular posters on F:F:F:, and some much larger and uncounted number of lurkers. And right now there are three people in Chat. But there's no way of knowing exactly who until you are in there, and the chat room she finds not so comforting. It's strange even with friends, like sitting in a pitch-dark cellar conversing with people at a distance of about fifteen feet. the hectic speed, and the brevity of the lines in the thread, plus the feeling that everyone is talking at once, at counter-purposes, deter her”

How many of us still work in finance, though? The cool kids moved on.
I've been in software since 1988, does that mean I'm still one of the cool kids? I suppose we could call the forum, "It's All AI Now Innit?" :)

That was published in 2003, during his non sci-fi (but definitely still cyberpunk) period. Like a lot of his work, it feels a bit prescient.

I’m pretty sure I once mimicked Wonko the Sane and put you all in an asylum. What Minnesota republicans think is not all that relevant

Where's Amin? He vanished a month ago, I'm worried about him. His absence lowers the level of sanity on the forum.
