can we not do this as a thread? I met a guy from the Options group last year - he had some decent roles but was basically a bullsh*tter - Huxley are animals.

I don't mind there being a thread, as long as people PM PimpMeister with the numbers.I hear more shit about Huxley than any other HH., but I'v dealt with them and have no complaints (or gained a job).I 've never seen as post that says "X is brilliant ". Given Huxley are bigger than most, one would expect them to get more abuse. The important result is the average. If we get a good sample we may even care about the variance as well. The quality of numbers I publish cannot be better than the numbers PimpMeister gets, so if you know a good HH, say this, and if they've screwed you around this is your chance to get even. The dream scenario of course is that these numbers are good enough that good agents prosper and aspire to a better ranking.

good idea to do this thread/poll.we could do one for estate agents too. or to vote for who are the best people: headhunters or estate agents?btw, do we actually know how their compensation work? do they get more money when the salary of the guy is smaller etc...?i still don t understand why they exist. why don t recruiters and applicants get in touch directly....

i still don t understand why they exist. why don t recruiters and applicants get in touch directly....Brokers exist in all markets, for good and bad reasons.Part is price discovery, and many people don't want to be hit by 10,000 useless CVs.The bad reason is that this should be done partly by HR. They're too dumb to read CVs (arguably too dumb to read anything)I'm not racist, but if I enjoyed screwing the wrong person out of a job, I would want to enjoy it myself rather than delegate it to a witless bimbo.80% of all personnel problems are directly caused by personnel deparments, this is one of them.

Recruiters are ten a penny. If you're not getting on with one go find another. It doesnt matter how good you are as a product if you're trying to flog it to the wrong person. Conversely a sh1t product peddled to a a dozen parties may just do well. We've got to see things from their point of view - they want to maximise the expectation of the money they can make out of a client (ie hiring firm, not you). Thats probably quite complex but mostly involves finding 2 - 4 candidates who sound well fitted for a role, then if one is offered it making the role sound as well fitted as possible to that candidate. At which stage the money comes into play - they have to optimise the probability of you being too expensive, or the job being too cheap to get you, and the eventual price factored by their commission. Misleading both parties within a tolerance improves their expectation.I know this isnt a revelation but if you remember this at every stage then not only can they not suck you in but you can play the game around their strategy. Your tactics would do well to include misleading them. An eye for an eye....

I have heard of some bad comments about CISNY and Analytical Recruiting. I did submit my resume to them without even hearing a word back. Maybe my resume was a joke back then (probably still is), anyone has similar experience?

I have used analytic to find jobs - and have had several good offers - as have my friends. That said,I was looking for analytic jobs in the credit card/consumer loan world. I haven't dealt much with the 'securities'side of the firm.

Today I had absolutely unexpected experience with a headhunter. He did knew about the subject!!! It was almost like an interview which I had, say with quants from GS, except that I was getting a feedback/advices right away. Now I'd say he is the only one headhunter that I'd rate as a "real professional", but may be I have to wait for results first...

Really like these kind of discussion:Well what can I say: had good experience with Optionsgroup. Funny but true, Huxley treated my cv seriously and did not had the feeling she (yes I spoke a female recruiter) was bullshitting. But the one I doubt the most is Orgtell...these are real F*ckers in my opinion. Not even take the minute or energy to call you back when you ask them to. So here you go ORGTELL ... one BIG 0 for you!
