Hi! J!As I know there is no one has tried to get a job in North America yet since no one came from North America before, however many of students got places at continental Europe.Students not need to pay school fee as long as they have been accepted to join in Msc in ComFin (PhD). Regards, vola

Vola, what is the background (academic degrees/work experience ) of students who are accepted to this program? I suppose a mathematical background is essential in this field, but does the University accept applicants with non mathematical backgrounds (after putting them through preparatory couses in math)?I suppose registrations have closed for this year, but I would just like to keep this info in mind for the academic year starting in 2003.Thanks.

Hi! AuditorVola was not in BA in math (something very far away)Vola has Msc in Finance before joining Msc in ComFin at HANKEN. Vola is now doing PhD in Finance at HANKEN.It was really hard for Vola to catch up the program at the begining. Most students are based on math, economics, finance, and statistics, however I came from BA in social science.Regards,Vola

Computational FInance Hanken the facts:Unstructured programOn the finance side you miss fixed income, exotics, credit derivatives, real continuous times ( beyond basic ito and basic radon nikodem as in neftci you get nothing this is the max) and a lot moreOn the computational side, the courses are absurd, just a selection from a computer science department for undergrads, there is nothing related to financial applications. some intro java is the best you can getemployment record = terrible.the program was initiated not to teach comp fin but as a recruitment grounds for the phd finance program , hanken needs students bec the finnish rewards the universities for about 50k and 150k for each grad (MS and PhD resp)The name computational was chosen as a marketing name to appeal to student and it works well with asians as it seemed. In no way you can compare it to ETH and LSE and so on, you got to approach the content of the program and who teaches it in order to assess it. I admit the name is appealing and here is the catch..
