Spring Intern: 2005

August 30th, 2004, 7:59 pm

hi, guys,I am majoring in a Financial program in a US university and going to finish all my classes this December. I have been looking for an internship for the next Spring for a while without any results. I am a little bit frustrated right now. Since no companies come to our campus, I really don't know how to look for an internship except by sending my resumes to some companies. so how you guys got your first internship? any comments and sugestions will be greatly appreciated.

It is a bit too early to be looking for a Spring internship..Companies, in my experience, start looking for full-time in fall qtr, and for interns winter qtr.First internship @ Hedge Fund - networkingSecond @ VC firm - networking and career centerThird - Microsoft - networkingFourth - Investment Consulting Firm - networkingJob now at an I-Bank, career center and networking, old boss at Hedge Fund who was a reference knew one of the Principal's in the office I now work at... Small world - same firm, Analyst friends with a friend of mine who we both went to school with, another bank I interviewed with, the associate used to work for the Principal I work with now.The world is a small place. I've met someone in London, who asked about a MSFT t-shirt I was wearing, who used to work with the MD of the VC firm I worked at in Seattle at Lehmans in NY...So in short, go press the flesh and meet some people
