Value of FRM exam

Hi allI want to know is there any preference to get a job in derivatives for those who pass FRM(Financial Risk manager) exam from GARP or PREMIA .Is is worth for spending time for studying time for those exams??Rajagopal

I think it's worth it, if only to get the basics of RM down. If if helps with your job search, then all the better.Some of the job postings on the GARP web site specifically ask for applicants who possess the FRM certification. However, whether it becomesmore globally important to have the FRM certification remains to be seen.

Read the thread "Dish the dirt on GARP" which has flogged the topic of the FRM to death (chief flogger, me).Just for larfs, I put "FRM" in MONSTER and other more finance-specific job search websites every now and then. Then compare the stats to putting in "CFA" or "CPA."So far the results are not encouraging. I have never gotten a hit ("FRM" = 0 (zero)) specifying the credential FRM. Always lots for CFA. Even on Quant finance recruitment sites and BLOOMBERG JOBS.Draw your own conclussions.Paul, lock this thread! Please...before I start again!- James, FRM, PRMIA Certified Risk Manager.
