1 million people marched through london to campaign against the forcefull removal of an evil dictator who was responsible for killing millions of people...Why...because people wanted "peace."Why is no-one in Europe then raising an eyebrow against the forthcoming removal of the trade arms embargo with China..... Surely this may well treathen world peace far more than removing Sadamm by military means ever did....

>> Surely this may well treathen world peace far more than removing Sadamm by military means ever did....Or it might restore a natural balance in world affairs and help stop the USA throwing it's weight about as the "sole surviving superpower". I note that while the EU is in favour of selling arms to China the USA is making a huge fuss.

Because even now people of the left see Communism as well intentioned, rather than evil.

China's no more (or less!) communist than Sweden. Now if you want to talk about selling arms to gerontocratic oligarchies then we're it's a bit of a different thing.

Last time I checked you could vote in Sweden, surf the web freely and say what you want about political leaders and also a freedom of press

Agreed. And your point is? because I look at my Communist Manefesto and dont see "you cant surf the web" or "you cant voice an opinion about your leaders" in it.

A good portion of US, UK and Israel GDP comes from arms sales. What's the fuss? Just because Europeans have landed a juicy deal??

There is a lot of comment here in Europe that while the USA makes a huge fuss over the EU selling arms to China it does not seem to mind Israel (its puppet state) doing exactly the same. Now THERE is a double standard.

Quotehttp://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagenam ... 418783723I think you'll find that US has siginificant control over what Israel can and cannot sell to china...Once the embargo goes then the EU can sell what they want...Given that there is a chance that China will declare war on Taiwan in the near future which will drag US and Japan in to the conflict how this does anything for world peace is beyond me.....And if China dont decalre war I'm sure they'll use it on thier own citiziens esp given the recent uprisings that have occured througfhout mainland china (in urban and rural Chian) but which have yet ot reported in the popluar press...I guess the memorries of Tiannemen Square have been forgotten.....where thousands campaigned for freedom and democracy but ruthlessly crushed....Given China also has land disputes with Japan, Russia and India how selling state of the art technology to one of the biggest military armies in the world does anything to foster world peace is beyond me.....

>> guess the memorries of Tiannemen Square have been forgotten.....where thousands campaigned for freedom and democracy but ruthlessly crushed....Along with 9/11 (1973 - Chile) and Grenada when the USA crushed a democratically elected government. Long memories are a double edged sword. >> think you'll find that US has siginificant control over what Israel can and cannot sell to chinaReally? http://www.commondreams.org/views02/050 ... 279Perhaps you want to rethink. Seems like a deal of belly aching but no real pulling its puppets strings.

First you say that the USA has no problem with Israel selling arms to china then you send over links which have headlines such as US anger at Israel arms sales to China..My previous point was meant to say the US has more control over Israel relatively to the EUIf you think its ok to lift the arms embargo then fine….and allow China to buy state of the arts weapons then fair enough we all have our own opinions….Personally I think it’s a recipe for disaster…QED

>> First you say that the USA has no problem with Israel selling arms to china then you send over links which have headlines such as US anger at Israel arms sales to China..Well - it doesn't seem to mind enough that it affects the $3 billion + each year in foreign aid.
