S.O.S. need advice

August 27th, 2002, 10:50 pm

Hey all,I have a master in Financial Mathematics from the University of Chicago as well as a diploma from France (ENSTA) equivalent to a phd without writting a thesis (in applied maths). I am looking for a quant position, with in the ideal case some trading exposure, in the San Francisco area, NY, or Chicago. Most of the shops I apply to do not consider me for research positions, and at best offer me a programing job. If anybody could give me a hint on what to do to start a quant career I would appreciate.I am a fresh graduate with a year and a half of professional experience, ready to work hard. If you have been there, your advice is needed! Thanks in advance.
