Online Aplication Question

February 10th, 2005, 5:03 pm

Hi,Early January, I made maybe 5 or 6 online applications for summer analyst program in the main US IB (for summer interships in NY) but I have not received any answer yet. Do you think it is because it's too soon, or they don't even tell you if you're not selected for a first round interview. Has someone who applicated had some news ?Please let me know. Thanks a lot.

They almost NEVER reply! Unless you actually talk to someone of authority (NOT HR) during a career conference, otherwise I found applying online to US IB just a waste of time. I got replies and talked to real people from some banks based in London tho.

Indeed, Macfly, it seems this year banks are not really willing to answer... Also, I do not know how it works in NYC but as regards London, it' a bit of "first come, first served" basis (eg JPM's applications were supposedly closed as soon as mid-September this year, at least for full time). I got the same thing with GS recently: 3 weeks after final round, no news is bad news...I suggest you contact headhunters: I have done so in the past weeks and I can ensure you that our diploma is well looked upon on the desks when it comes to looking for junior quant guys (at least in London). As a general thing, I would tend to agree with joeyk: networking it THE most important asset, academics and experience are nothing in comparison.Good luck!

Agree with Tomfr - HHs are probably the best way to get a job as a junior quantBut it's pretty useless for trading and for any sort of internship
