we're doomed...

September 14th, 2005, 1:48 pm

i saw this today http://swift.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/swift/n ... 59.htmland thought about how scientists are linking stellar explosions with mass extinctions on earth ( http://arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/9607160 ) associated with the subsequent gamma ray bursts. if this explosion had been within 40 light years, life could have been wiped out. as it turns out, this particular explosion was "at the edge of the observable universe" (whatever that means). some say earth's due for another mass extinction since it's been over 100MM years since the last one.

General Relativity predicts that within 2 billion years the sun will burn itself out ... it will become a red-giant and then collapse into a dead neutron star. No sunlight means no more life on earth. Google for GR and read do some research ....

We have a great future behind us.I'm surprised that the string theorists have not seen this obvious fact. We know where we're going but we don't know where we've been we know what we're knowing, but we can't say what we've seen and we're not little children, and we know what we want and the future is certain, give us time to work it outyeah
