My main curiosity, as many of you will know, is front-office systems, and the topological arrangements which enable simple people to work together in complex supply chains. But since I will never actually be able to get a job on a front-desk - and because of that I already blew all my time and money developing software prototypes which didn't make any sense to anyone - I pursue it as more of a pointless hobby.I see myself as more of a shy tourist in the securities industry. But I would like to get around and meet more people, and see what they are doing on various desks, and what types of systems they are using. I recently ran across two companies on the web, Fenics and FNX, that apparently have sales forces, where they send people around to do just that.So I am curious, what exactly do these two companies do, or are there better ones? What sorts of characteristics, skills, and qualifications are required to get an entry-level job on their sales force? And then, if you get the job, will you actually get around a lot, or is their client base small, and you will end up most of the time sitting on the phone in a narrow support role?MP
