MSc Mathematical Trading & Finance at City Uni. What's it's rep?

October 26th, 2002, 5:06 pm

Does anyone know what the reputation of this course is like in terms of getting a job on a graduate programme at a BB? I'm a final year undergrad and given the current job market I am looking at MSc programmes. Has anyone here taken this and got a job in trading?I am also considering,MSc Mathematical Finance @ ImperialMSc Accounting & Finance @ LSEMPhil Finance @ CambridgeMSc Finance @ WarwickWhat are the relative merits of these courses, and how difficult is it to gain entry ie how much competition is there for each place? Also, a few of these ask for a GMAT score, how important is this in the final decision?

ok, after doing a bit of searching I think I have the answers I need. I think the general consensus is that it has a good rep but is expensive. On the subject of the GMAT. I have tried some of the practice questions in the prep guides (Kaplan & Princetone Review), the maths questions are moderately difficult at best (given the time constraints), the verbal q's seem straight forward. All in all, it doesn't seem that difficult especially since it's multiple choice. Does anyone have any comments on this? Is it as easy as it seems?

No one can tell you if you will find it easy or not. Download the sample tests, do them and get a score to see where you stand!rgds,Dimitris
