"I just saved a ton of minutes on ... Excel"

OR..What is you favorite "quick trick" in Excel that has proved VERY useful in your day-to-day Excel activities.I am talking the sumif, match, index, hlookup type functions and the autofilter which I find EXTREMELY useful and has reduced my workload many times over. (especially when I need to delete rows for sparsely populated data and when I need to format numbers from the web onto Excel.)Also some cool keyboard shortcuts that you guys use would be helpful. I am talking "Ctrl + 1" for formatting, "Alt + E" for paste special, etc. Not to forget "Ctrl + Arrow" for faster mobility. And tons of others... that have made life easier. Are there any more??Of course I could try all 2 key stroke combinations or refer to an "Excel book". But ones from your own experience which have helped you would probably be the MOST helpful to the rest of us finance guys too.Your help is appreciated.

But I bet you didn't spend a moment getting your spreadsheet work independently checked, and have therefore almost certainly screwed up.You could do worse

ctrl + Enter and shift + Enteragree with GrenvilleCroll, shortcut is one thing, but on a higher level, good design practice is more important to spreadsheet modelling.

forgot to mention ctrl-pgup and ctrl-pgdn, which are by far the most frequent hits after ctrl-c, ctrl-v and alt - f + s (I use this more often than ctrl+s b'coz old notepad does not support ctrl+s).

I love using excel keyboard shortcuts.Command key - I don't know what it's really called, but it's the one that usually brings the right-click menu.Command-m = insert/delete commentcommand-e = edit commentcommand-s = paste specialcommand-s-t = paste special -> formattingcommand-s-v = paste special -> valuescommand-s-e = paste special -> transposecommand-s-f = paste special -> formulaformatting: type a number then play with ctrl-shift-1,2,3...I keep a shortcut sheet next to my computer. Everytime I need to do something, I first look up the shortcut and then try and use it every time. Can't do things the normal, slow, illiterate, way anymore.

Moving around with Ctrl+ arrow keys, then shift+arrow keys for highlighting and then ctrl-d for autofill-down.Basic, but a life saver.
