how long do traders and quants usually take for lunch in the middle of the day?

I leave around 12:00 and don;t come back till the next day :-)Seriously, about 1 to 1.5 hours... On Fridays, it can be anywhere from 1 to 2 hours and up :-)Ram

Why doesn't anybody order delivery and save time/effort of standing in line at deli or walking? Is it because security won't allow the delivery boy into the building?

Hmmm. I don't know anyone who actually has a lunch break. We walk out, to pick something up, and to stretch our legs, and then back to eat at the desk. Maybe once a month meet a friend for a quick bite out.Ordering delivery saves no time, really, compared to a sandwich from across the road.

In all seriousness (if this is even a serious question), I can't remember the last time I actually took a lunch break. I just pick up whatever is quick. Like NJ said, delivery usually takes just as long, if not longer, than running somewhere quick. Plus, I get into work so early that I'm usually hungry before the big lunch rush.

depend on your team culturemkt has consent when is lunch time and will not call on your dealing (local mkt)...interest rate trading, i took 2 hr in 2 days/week..i saw fx guys never go out...equity guys, they go out...credit...also go out...we went out to walk and have interviews...dont really care what to eat, as they all taste the same on weekdays...taste completely different on weekends...structurer...depend on your head...lot of business: go out lunch, let the sales wait....no business: stay on desk forever

I usually go for a walk or go out with the guys and have a large lunch in a restaurant. Sometimes we drive somewhere and have lunch. I work in Long Island, NY....Ram

probably should mention that I am not a trader

but a software developer. Majority of the traders I know, just get things ordered and eat at their desks.......
