Math Certificate/Qualification/Exam?

August 11th, 2008, 6:42 am

Hello all,I am currently working in a semi-quant role in a bank. Mathematical skills are not highly demanded here. But I am quite motivated to enhance my mathematical skills, to be more confident and ready for future challenges. I am quite a "exam" oriented guy, if there are some exams in front of me, I will be hard working, otherwise I will be too lazy...So does anyone know if there are some low cost math certificate/qualification/exam to participate? I only know "certificate in quantitative finance", but it seems that we have to follow their courses to take part in the exams, and the whole cost is beyond my budget...Thanks for any commentTie CHENG

could you be more specific about what kind of math and at what level (undergrad ? grad ?) you are looking forPRM exam 2: Mathematical Foundations of Risk Measurement might be an option depending on what you want

Thanks for the reply. The courses related to "Quantitative Finance" or "Financial engineering" interest me most. For example, probability, stochastic, credit risk management, statistics... Both graduation & under graduation levels are fine. If it is a little hard that will be challenging, if it is easy, that will be a revision.Yes, distance learning / exams are what I am looking for as well...Thanks and regardsTie CHENG

Are you in London? If so check out: certificate in Financial Engineering or Certificate in Statistics at Birkbeck College (www.ems.bbk.ac.uk). Both are undergraduate level evening lecture courses that can be finished in one year or two.
