Commercial Programming with Bloomberg API ?

June 8th, 2009, 1:18 pm

Howdy,I'm looking at commercializing and selling a program I created which runs on a Bloomberg terminal and uses some of the Bloomberg API / Code Libraries. Just wondering whether Bloomberg would have any issues with me selling this program to companies? Any thoughts appreciated!Cheers!

You'd probably have to contact them for permission (at very least). Here at Thomson Reuters we have a partner program to help ISVs get support, API access, maintenance & access to technical discussion & collaboration - test feeds & platforms etc. (ISVs can include individuals - something we are seeing a rise in.)I don't know if BBG offer something similar.:T

Thanks for the info! I found Reuters was really under-cutting BB with price when I was a TL at Citi, so perhaps I should also be considering your platform as well. Is there any online documention for new ISV's looking at Reuters development? Do developers need to purchase a full license themselves to test their applications on the live platform? Thanks,Iz

A good place to start is at the Solution Parntner Program site.Depending on where you are based I can get someone to discuss your plans. Mail me direct if interested. The Solution Partner Program along with the Client Developer Program (that I manage) gives you access, support, learning & developer collaboration on our real-time APIs. For partners you can also go for an RMDS test system, datafeed test connection & interact with our clients too Yes there is a monthly charge $230.Any questions just ask. Many thanksTom Ablewhite
