Hi & Trading Exotics

February 25th, 2002, 7:44 pm

Hi,

I'm new to the site so thought I'd say hi and thanks for a decent website.

I have a question about getting into trading exotics. From the recruiters I have looked through, it seems that opportunities for juniors occur rarely. Is the best way to get on an exotics desk from the inside? I have a few of years trading experience in softs (futures & vanilla options) but chose to leave to study (undergraduate and now finishing MPhil). Entry to this area appears tough without relevant experience.

Thanks

The exotic traders I know started off as quants/programmers supporting fairly vanilla/slightly exotic desks. I think it's a natural progression for anyone with technical skills who also wants to earn some decent money.
