hi..i just graduated in may with a degree in finance and was interested in a more technical graduate degree (i.e. quantitative finance, financial math, etc.)..the only problem is that the only math/cs courses that i took in college were calc I & II and cs 1 & 2 (java & data structures)..how can i prepare myself so that I can apply to these quantitative programs..what courses should i take (on a part time basis because of work)...does anyone know if of any ppl who entered these programs without a very strong math or cs background..what programs would be best for me...where do u see this career going in the future...thanks! any insight would be greatly appreciated

Hmm, you'll need to strengthen up your cs skills for sure. A course isn't enough to make you 'good', just passable. As far as maths go.... lots to go.... take some intro diff eqns for starters, then some partial diff eqns, then learn some basics of stat/prob theory along with stochastic processes, and you'll be 'prepared' enough i believe to begin the quest to quant-dom... oh yeah, reading papers in quant finance would help as well...

thanks for your response...how common is it for ppl without a math/engineering/cs background to enter these programs? are they able to compete? is it difficult for them to compete in the job market?
