Somebody needs to start a competitor to Bloomberg. Any alternative would be warmly received - Write a bunch of communications software - license NumeriX for analytics - Intex for CMO cashflowsVoila

All the Reuters products (including Kobra) have been substituted by a single one called Eikon. You can then have it in various flavours depending by the data you are interested in. Not much complicated, really. It has been launched few months ago and it's cheaper than BBG, also much more user friendly (unless you are already a bbg user which knows all the codes relevant to your daily work).

acastaldoI dislike the unresponsiveness and general ambivalence when dealing with the human beings. The only person who gives a damn is my sales rep and he has no power to fix anything

Thank you for this. How much is it? Do they have analytics as well as data? Do they have an API? Are there structured cashflows (mortgages, et cetera)?

They have a lot of data available, however I'm not sure about struct cash flows as it's not my area. For more info I suggest you to contact Reuters directly, you can find the help desk numbers on their web site. EDIT: data available

reuters doesn't give a sh.t about customers. when i sent an email to BBG, they got back quickly, and i have their acct manager available all the time. Reuters doesnt bother to reply sales quotes, imagine what will happen AFTER you sign a contract

reuters does not support any strucutred product (including generic mbs) which is a major issue they are trying to deal with. the sole reason for having them is that market data is released about a minute before it hits your bbg (same goes for mkt rumors!)the real problem, as i see it, is that everyone uses bbg which provides a standard for communicating amongst various market participants. the only way to circumvent this would be to isolate a market segment and build a superior platform including the actual market participiants and branch out from there with a clear plan for growth. anyone who is interested, feel free to pm me

We have BB and IDC, both have great customer service. BB has more depth.
