M.S. in Finance/Financial Markets at IIT

July 30th, 2003, 7:55 am

Hi all,Has anyone been to the MS program in finance and financial markets at Illinois Institute of Technology? It seems to me that they have a pretty good program - a variety of courses to choose from and a few concentrations in computational finance/financial engineering and programming. And also they have start of the art lab as well. So has anyone got some opinoin about their program? Their reputation and placement records in Chicago or the Street? Any advice is welcomed?Andrew

Hi Montecarlo,I am very confused about the Computational Finance concentration in MS in Finance and the Financial Engineering and Programming concentration in MSFM. Which program are you going to? I am contacting the program director John Twombly but I would really like some second opinion.Cheers,Andrew

This is my first quarter here at IIT in the Finance program (Fall 03). So far it sucks. The professors don't really seem to care about the classes and teach at a very subpar level. They took in too many people into the program this year and even waived some foreign students Toeffel exam by making them pay and take an English course the first quarter. So far, the people behind the IIT Finance program are money hungry people, just taking in random people. I bet you if a bum from Union Station, he could get in if he were willing to pay. If you are bright and did really well on the GMAT like I did, do not make the same mistake by coming here. But if you aren't that good, this might be the program for you.
