I've worked part time as a web developer while on my undergraduate and MSc course, and did a year as a sys admin before moving to the UK to start my degrees.I'm a little concerned that having these first on my CV overshadows that I'm just finishing my MSc in Aeronautics/CFD and that the web dev was just part time while studying.I don't mention it was part time explicitly and you would only notice if you looked the dates. I'm concerned that hiring managers/recruiters/anybody would just see web developer/sysadmin and toss the CV in the bin.So I'm not sure how to frame it, I know web development is not especially relevant to quant work but I think having a non trivial programming role while doing a fairly demanding degree could give me a perceived advantage over other entry level people. I just want to ensure I highlight my applied math skills above my ruby scripting! I currently have my work experience first, then education -- where I then summarise topics covered on the course and my project. Is it worth reordering this or explaining the part time nature explicitly, leave it to the cover letter, should I forget about it and give CV readers/skimmers more credit? Thanks!
