friend of mine changed program/degree halfway. how to put this into the cv?

February 9th, 2013, 7:59 pm

nope, wasn't me. i'm proofreading a cv and the guy stayed at the same school for 10 years. After about five he decided to quit his degree and then immediately enrolled in some other program using some of the credits earned in his old degree. He finished this new program (a european-style combined BA/MA hybrid) now successfully.I'm wondering what is the most intelligent way to phrase this in the cv without coming off too much as a quitter while staying factually correct?-CM

The resume that goes to the interviewers can "hide" some info, for instance start the first degree he dropped out of; that way no one will know he spent 10 years. But the resume that goes into the system through HR has to have dates accurate to the nearest month.

Why in the word he must list that?example:BOND.MAELO, BONDLicense To Kill Street No 007, San Juan PR USA 00_MI6(XXX) XXX-XXXX & veryhotporn@cel.notcom2012 Master in Yes, Master degree with SUMMA DIFFICULTAED. "E GORE" University, Transylvania2009 BA in Bull Shirts Arts, with MAGNUM ESFFORZUM. VERYLIBERAL COLLEGE, The Twilight Zoneand then you list any relevant experience to the job you are appliying (I gathered he has none whatsoever, being born in 1980, first college degree started when he was 20...spent 5 years joking around in it; then got serious); I figure he could state any part time experience that have some weight (maybe supervised others, etc) or very good references..and that's about it.His CV should be about 5 lines (including name, address, phone & email). You list accomplishments, not tryouts (unless such tryouts took you a lot of time or what you learned was useful). At least in the US, you should not state the date you were born, to avoid age discrimination (more like to minimize it, you might be discriminated later anyyway as they will see you sooner or later if they want to interview you).M

He finished this new program (a european-style combined BA/MA hybrid) now successfully.evidently he cannot have used that many credits if he took him 5 years to get a combined BA/MA

No one needs to know about the previous 10 years, yet. After getting the job offer, when he fills out background verification form he can provide the start dates
