Site very slow to load

January 17th, 2016, 4:11 pm

Is it just me or are others experiencing very long times for pages to load? (say ~10secs).I am in the western U.S. My ping times to, say, google.com are ~12ms and to wilmott.com ~150msThis unusual slowness has been going on for me for the last few days.

QuoteOriginally posted by: list1wilmott.com works perfectly again. Thanks JamesThat's great. I've worked through the weekend and apologise for any restarts that may have affected posting threads etc. There are still some processes running this morning that make require a restart of two over the day, but I feel confident that I dealt with the isues tha were causing the server to hang at times.

Unfortunately, while I detect some improvement, things are still very slow for me. Clicking on any link at the site results in a wait of 15-30 seconds before the target loads. In the past, the responses would often be just a second or two. It's not a browser issue as the timings are similar in ie11 or chrome. Also, the initial connection to the site from my homepage takes 25 seconds, again much longer than in the past.Another timing: from the moment I click 'yes' to "are you sure you want to logout?" to the actual re-load: 50 secs.I should add that I have experienced periods of very sluggish behavior in the past, which have then seemed to get cured. So perhaps the vagaries of the internet, my anti-virus software, your regular maintenance, or something else plays a role.p.s. Now, 90 mins later from the above, the problems have disappeared and everything loads quickly!

Lately I have been watching youtube videos while lurking and waiting for select pages to load. The expression "Things are moving at a glacial pace," used to be in reference to glacier formation. But there is a new paradigm in the world now!Aerial View of World's Fastest Glacier CalvingGood luck to admin and hope to see some of you again before spring is here. :D
