Advice on Linux

Debian, no doubt. Apt-get is just the best invention since mouse. Still, sometimes tricky to install on certain configurations (especially laptops). Installing with the Net install and an Ethernet connection takes no more than 40 minutes.

Magic (binary) cube

<t>You have a cube made up with 6x6x6 cells, with each cell containing a bit (either 0 or 1). In each direction (row, column or stack), you can thus read a series of 6 bits. We define the couple of the series in both direction to be the signature of the row. For example, a row reading, from left to ...

<r>I would tend to support skyblue's view. Considering the high selectivity of Citadel, your being extended an offer already suggests you have been deemed sufficiently skilled on the fin math side to be part of this kind of company. So would you really NEED an MSc program in addition? Plus you could...

UNCC vs Kent State

As far as I know, the main attention in NC is devoted to Chapel Hill and Charlotte may thus suffer from this... No idea about Kent. All in all, IIT may be the best place among the three but this really is my 0.02$

DEA/DESS Yet again

<r>203 is very well regarded both in France and rest of Europe (though maybe less on the quantitative desks as compared to the DEAs) but the vast majority of the people I know from this programme are either vanilla traders (one is repo, two are cash FX...) or exotic sales persons (one structured pro...

<t>most "admis sur titres" actually come from a four-year university background (most likely maitrise MASS, from top university with top grades), though for the current 3rd year, there also are three Centrale (2 Lyons, 1 Lille), 1 Supelec and 1 Essec. Some economic background may be preferred though...

from what I know, not quite the best place for junior people, but that was some time ago. May have evolved since then. Great rep for senior guys though.

<t>Hi all,I have a major job dilemma, with two quite different job offers on hold (answer required by tomorrow!!). Salaries (and location, ie Paris) are quite comparable so it's difficult to get a clear advantage there!Job A:- French subsidiary of a global top 3 bank (by size)- title: risk control o...

Exotic derivatives risk

<t>Hi,Got an offer for exotic derivatives risk control in Paris. I was wondering if anyone had an idea of the kind of figure (base+%) to expect there (or what kind of figure for a similar, junior position in London)? Also, does anyone know to what extent the title "risk control" differs from "risk m...
