Canary Wharf -- where to live

<r>State schools are very good in blackheath, which is why a 5 bedroom house went for 3.5 million pounds there last year...Greenwich is different.I commute daily from there on my scooter, and it is 15 mins in the morning, £2 a day to park, and 10 mins back at night. As to the question about living so...

Cost of living in London

<t>Actually, no, not great for there. That is actually a tricky place to get to from the normal city-type places.Barbican works, but you actually have lots and lots of places reasonably local to it that the college (University college) use.To save money, though, it always makes sense to travel out o...

How to become a trader

<t>QuoteOriginally posted by: StatTraderThe most direct route to a trading position is via an MBA program. A pretty sizable percentage of traders also make it via a stint in product control. <t>In zone 1, the Barbican is worth looking at. It is an unusual style (very 60s/70s), but very convenient for the square mile, and being able to walk to work is a real benefit.A bit further out, Rotherhithe/Canada Water has lots of modern apartments, and is very good for anyone who will work in Can...

Citigroup or Bloomberg, which offer to choose?

<t>If I may just add an opinion, I'd say to put Bloomberg out of your mind completely. As has been said, do not reject Bloomberg until you have to (it is a free option that you are holding), but the two really cannot be compared. Bloomberg is a news and data provider, with some basic maths to give p...

Volatility Cube

<t>OK, many points to answer, so I will do each briefly. Cap volatility is not flat in any dimension. Swaptions are not only provided ATM, there is a liquid market in lots of strikes in the major currencies. Volatility for saptions and caps can indeed be "mixed". For example, a six month - six month...

Volatility Cube

<t>Can you explain a bit more what you are looking for? A cube is just a 3d table of option volatilities. You interpolate and extrapolate to cover prices that are not on an exact node, but, other than that, it is just a lookup table.People are moving a way from a cube to a parameterization now, wher...

You could ask that you only pay it back if they decide to let you go, and not if you choose to go yourself. This would be fair, I think, and does not look like a bad thing to ask.
